Asclera – Sclerotherapy without the Sting

I am very excited to share with you a recent breakthrough in leg vein treatment in the U.S. As of last week we now have Asclera™ (Polidocanol) available for your treatments. Asclera has been safely used in Europe for over 50 years and was just recently approved in the U.S. It just became available to U.S. physicians in August of this year.

The advantages of Asclera over hypertonic saline are:

Asclera is nearly painless. While hypertonic saline works well, and we have been using it successfully for over 20 years, it does sting and burn when injected. Other than the minor prick from the needle, Asclera does not hurt.

Asclera treats reticular and varicose veins more successfully than hypertonic saline. Reticular veins are the blue veins that do not bulge but are larger than spider veins. Varicose veins are the largest type of veins that bulge (stick out) when standing. We treat spider and reticular veins with Asclera.

(Due to a higher risk of side effects, we do not usually treat varicose veins in our office.)

By now most of you interested in growing longer eyelashes have tried Latisse or are contemplating it. For those of you who have purchased it, you know that each kit comes with 60 disposable brushes to apply it with. And for those of you who have purchased it from us and received a much better brush complimentary as our gift, you have probably wondered what to do with all of those clunky brushes.

I have come up with some uses for these brushes, please add your own by commenting on this blog entry!

1. Clean between the keys on your computer keyboard.

2. Touch-up with paint the dings and scratches on your cabinets, walls and car.
