Why Choose Belotero Balance

Belotero, like both Juvederm® and Restylane®, is composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance found naturally in your body. HA is used in fillers to correct wrinkles and folds and add volume to the face and lips. Belotero’s adaptable formula means it integrates seamlessly with your facial contours. This makes it one of our preferred fillers for under-eye hollows, crow’s feet, fine lines around the lips, and those stubborn “etched” lines on the surface of the skin.

Your Treatment

Preparing for Your Treatment

Wash your face thoroughly, removing lipstick and face creams.

Don’t take aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil), vitamin E, fish oil and similar medications for 1 to 2 weeks before your treatment to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.

Use Arnica montana (an herbal medicine) the morning of your treatment or immediately after to help reduce bruising and swelling (you can buy a physician-strength version at our office).

Tell us before your treatment if you have a history of herpes (cold sores) in this area so we can prescribe a medication that will help prevent an outbreak.

The Treatment

Treatments last only a few minutes. Since Belotero doesn’t include numbing medication, we use a cold spray to numb the skin before injecting Belotero. To make lip treatments more comfortable, we usually inject a lidocaine anesthetic under your lips immediately before your treatment. Depending on the areas treated, you may need more than one syringe of Belotero to create the desired results. You may need a touch-up treatment 4 to 8 weeks after your first treatment to fine-tune and prolong your results. Results typically last between 6 and 12 months, but we can perform touch-ups sooner if your full results begin to diminish.

After the Treatment

The recovery period after Belotero injections is minimal. There may be possible side effects like redness, swelling and discomfort at the injection site, which tend to subside within several days. Bruising is rare.
