What is CoolSculpting?

Cosmetic Networks host Sheila Maitlen interviews Laguna Niguel Dermatologist, Dr. Lorrie Klein on Cosmetic Networks Live Web Show.

Sheila Maitlen: Dr. Klein, what is cool sculpting?

Dr. Lorrie Klein: Cool sculpting is a very interesting technique that uses cold to freeze fat cells. It freezes it to the right temperature so it doesn’t hurt skin but destroys the fat cells so that they don’t come back again¦ and the fat is permanently gone.

Sheila Maitlen: So, Dr. Klein, some patients might ask, Å“Doctor, does cool sculpting really work?

Dr. Lorrie Klein: You know, it really does work, Sheila. Cool sculpting has been around for over three years now and in the beginning it was questionable whether it would work. We weren’t sure about the results. The studies looked good but we just had to try it for ourselves. And now, three years late, we’ve gotten two machines, and it’s being used everywhere on the body. So, Coolsculpting really does work. And the results are pretty amazing.

Sheila Maitlen: So Dr. Klein, who might be a candidate for Coolsculpting?

Dr. Lorrie Klein: Well, the people who are candidates for cool sculpting tend to be people who have areas of fat that they just can’t get rid of with exercise or diet. If you’re too thin and all you have is a little skin, it’s not going to work. If you’re really, really overweight, it’s probably not going to work either. But for all those people in between it works well.
