JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC

What is Juvederm Vollure XC?

JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC is the latest in a line of injectable gels that’s manufactured using VYCROSS® technology to create a smooth-gel filler that produces long-lasting results for up to 18 months at the treatment site. Vollure delivers subtle, soft volume and aids in the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It’s also a wonderful product for enhancing fuller lips.

Allergan first debuted Vycross® technology in the U.S. in 2013 with the FDA approval of Juvederm Voluma® XC for age-related volume loss. JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC brings VYCROSS® technology to the most requested dermal filler treatment area – nasolabial folds. It is the latest addition to the Juvederm collection, the number one selling collection of dermal filler products in the world to receive FDA approval.

The safety and effectiveness of Vollure has been demonstrated in several clinical trials here in the U.S. In clinical trials, a majority (59%) of patients saw an improvement in moderate to severe facial
wrinkles and folds, which lasted for up to 18 months when performed by a trained professional. Patient satisfaction in the pivotal study was also high: 82% of patients said they were very satisfied at 6 months and 68% at 18 months post treatment.

Why Choose the Juvederm® Family of Products?

Juvederm Ultra XC, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Voluma, Vobella and now Vollure provide patients with a natural, youthful appearance when injected by a trained professional with an artistic eye. The majority of experts agree that hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are the products of choice for correcting slight to severe lines and wrinkles and adding shape to lips. The gels are created from stabilized HA, which binds with water to add volume and hydration to your skin. They slowly break down and are absorbed by the body naturally. Because HA is a natural substance found in our bodies, no allergy pre-testing is required. These products also contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that increases your comfort during treatments.

Preparing for Your Vollure® Treatment

Wash your face thoroughly, removing lipstick and face creams.

Discontinue use of aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil), Alleve, vitamin E, fish oil, and similar medications for 1 to 2 weeks prior to your treatment to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.

Use Arnica montana (an herbal medicine) the morning of your treatment (or for several days before) or immediately after to help reduce bruising and swelling (you can buy a physician-strength version at our office or on our online store.) SHOP NOW.

Please tell us if you have a history of herpes (cold sores) in the area prior to your treatment, so we can prescribe a medication to help prevent an outbreak.

What are Filler Treatments Like?

Treatments last 10-30 minutes. We use a cold spray which makes most treatments pain-free. Depending on the areas treated, more than 1 syringe may be needed to create the best look possible. An enhancement may be needed 2-8 weeks after your first treatment to “fine-tune” your results and produce longer lasting improvement. Results typically last anywhere from 6 to 24 months, depending on the type of filler.

What are the common side effects of Vollure?

The majority of the side effects experienced from Vollure are mild and temporary and may include swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, pain, redness, discoloration and itching.

If these conditions occur, they are usually gone within a few days. For lip injections, swelling may last 7 to 10 days. We recommend planning your treatments at least 1 week prior special events. Minor swelling can sometimes persist up to several weeks post-treatment. This type of swelling tends to enhance your results by filling in the wrinkles and lips a little more than the product does. Once the swelling goes down, you may feel as if the effect is fading. This is just the natural results obtained after the swelling has completely subsided. If you preferred how you looked with a little swelling, we can always add more filler on a subsequent appointment.

We offer V-Beam laser treatments to improve bruising within 36 hours of your Juvederm® treatment.
You can also schedule a Villani treatment following the Juvederm® injections (either that day or the next day). The Villani treatment reduces bruising and swelling after filler treatments. It can also rejuvenate skin, help lighten pigmentation, and improve acne.

Care After Filler Treatments

Applying cold packs to your face, wearing Ocumend Arnica Patches and taking Arnica montana for 1 to 2 days will help with any bruising or swelling. You should avoid putting pressure on the treated areas for several hours as this could displace the filler. We also recommend using an extra pillow and sleeping on your back for the first night to achieve best results.
