How does Sofwave work and how does it differ from other skin tightening treatments?
Like other ultrasound procedures, a smooth applicator is placed on the top of your skin. Heat is produced below the surface of your skin to naturally and gradually create new collagen and elastic tissue and tighten skin. Because of its state-of-the-art technology utilizing integrated cooling and high intensity, high frequency, multiple ultrasound beams, Softwave is more effective, more comfortable, and faster than Ultherapy and Thermage.
What areas can be treated?
Eyebrows (“Brow Wow”), cheeks, below eyes, jowls, jawlines and necks can all be tightened and/or lifted.
Body tightening is expected to be available in 2022.
How many treatments will I need and how often should I be treated?
While only 1 treatment is needed, we recommend a second treatment in 2-3 months after the first for optimal results. Because we continue to age, we recommend 1 maintenance treatment every year.
Does it hurt during the procedure or afterwards?
One of the benefits of this new technology is its integrated cooling. While the procedure can be uncomfortable, this cooling technology makes Sofwave one of the most comfortable anti-aging treatments available. For very sensitive patients, ProNox is available for an additional cost (must be requested when scheduling).
How long does a treatment take and what will I look like afterwards? When will I see results?
Most treatments take only 20-50 minutes. There is no downtime and no discomfortable after the treatment! Work, normal activities and make-up can be resumed immediately after treatment. You will see and feel some tightening immediately after your treatment but the full effects are seen gradually over the next 3 months.
What do I have to do before and after my treatment? Are there special instructions I need to follow?
There is no preparation* and no aftercare. We use numbing gel to make the procedure more comfortable, but no other pain medication is usually needed. Make sure you arrive with a clean face and no make-up at least 90 minutes prior to your treatment to have numbing gel applied. An anti-anxiety medication can be given when you arrive, upon request. if you do not plan on driving yourself home. *Men should be clean-shaven in the treatment areas.
What skin types are safe to treat? Can I tan before or after my treatment? Is it safe?
Any skin type (fair, dark, olive, etc) can be safely treated. While we do not recommend ever getting a tan, it will not affect your treatment, before or afterwards. Sofwave has an excellent safety profile.
Can Sofwave be combined with other rejuvenation treatments?
Absolutely, Sofwave may be combined with:
- IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) to improve pigmentation, redness, brown discolorations, texture and tone.
- V-Beam Laser to treat redness and blood vessels.
- Fraxel Laser to improve texture, pores and fine lines
- Botox and fillers
For optimal lifting we highly recommend a Botox Brow Lift at least 2 weeks before and a Filler Cheek Enhancement after Sofwave. If fillers are done prior, we recommend waiting 2 months after filler treatments before having Sofwave for optimal results.
